The Advanced Vehicle Design and Manufacturing Engineering Research Center of Liaoning Province was established in July 2008 with the approval of the Department of Science & Technology and the Department of Finance of Liaoning Province. Affiliated to DUT School of Automotive Engineering, the research center takes full advantage of DUT professional talents and laboratory facilities, collaborates with experienced engineering institutes, and keeps a close eye on new trends and problems of the automotive industry to establish high-level platforms for innovation and research. At the same time, the research center actively promotes international cooperation. It carries out research based on the existing key technologies in the development of the northern automotive industry and its supporting industries, providing a favorable research platform and guarantee, technical support, and talent reserve for the development of the automotive industry in Liaoning province. After years of unremitting efforts, the research center has formed a pattern integrating scientific research, technology development and engineering application, ensuring a sound combination of industry, university and research.

At present, the research center has a professor awarded by the National Thousand Talents Program, two awarded by Liaoning Ten-Million Talents Program, two National High-level Talents, and 13 postdoctoral researchers. Among the researchers, 84 percent are young and middle-aged under the age of 45, and 94 percent have a doctoral degree. A professional research team with active academic ideas and appropriate knowledge and age structure has been formed.
